SUGAR!!

K girls I think I’ve got it! You see I was eating this really nice chocolate donut (from the awesumly awesum bakery at Coles-seriously it is really AWESUMMMMMM) n apart from thinking, this is all going straight to my thighs….I thought SRP!
So I think I’m going to do how and if sugar affects our memory. It’s actually something that I’ve always thought about. I mean you know how athletes eat glucose before they run to stimulate their body n stuff….we’ll does eating sugar stimulate the memory power of your brain?
What I’m going to do is….
Get about 5 people from the ages 14-16 and test their memory by showing them flashcards with numbers on them; each time making the number bigger by one digit. Then I will give them a certain amount of sugar, let it digest….and then do the same thing again but with different number flashcards! If they remember more, it means that sugar increases the power of memory!I might also try it with another, much older age group…not sure yet.
My variables
Independent: Sugar
Dependent: Amount of digits that person remembers
Controlled: Amount of sugar, time for digestion, age group of people, time of day

Hehehehe…finally getting somewhere,
Lakshmi :D
PS: I have decided to never use red font ever again, don't know about you but it's really hurting my eyes

Today I had a dulux moment…

So I sat down to study and somehow got immediately distracted...sigh. More to that point I sat there staring out the window and saw the black roof of my neighbour's house. And then I thought SRP!
So I have another idea...
We all know that black absorbs more light than white right? (hehe that rhymes :D) But do we know the temperature difference between a black thing and a white thing? So I thought for my experiment I should do get cups of water and dye each cup with a different colour and measure the temperature difference of each over a period of time.
So....
Cup A: black water
Cup B: red water
Cup C: blue water
Cup D: yellow water
Cup E: white water
And then after say about a couple of hours, measure their temperatures
My Variables:
Independent - Colour of Dye
Dependent - Temperature of the water
Controlled - Amount of water, amount of dye, type of cup, amount of sunlight & amount of water in cup

with still plenty more SRPing to do

Lakshmi has had her first spark of science!

Well….yesterday night I was getting ready to go to sleep when I thought SRP! And then I came up with an idea for my project. I was thinking that I could monitor if the last thing that you hear before you sleep is the first thing that you think of in the morning. So… for example if I listen to a song before I go to sleep, will the same song be in my head the next morning? I don’t know it’s something that I’ve always thought about.
You know when you wake up one morning n you have this song in your head n your lyk, “where the hell did this song come from?” N then you realise that you were listening to it the night before?...
Well I always hv heaps of those moments n its about time I c if its true. Cos if it is….I could jst study something that’s really hard, just before I go to sleep the night b4 a test, n it’ll stay in my mind the next morning! Lyk how convenient would that b? I could revolutionise studying forever….
I’m not really sure what the independent & dependent variables would be…..i hv to kinda think about that a little more, but so far so good!

with lots more thinking to do but enough for today,
Lakshmi

Jeee...time flies when ur not thinking about science

Yesterday I was in my zhangy period of the wk when i realised that i had given absolutely no thought to my SRP, it was also when I realised that all I had on my blog was 'Hello World', in fact it was also when I realised that our first blog thingo is due next week...to the day.
So I have finally decided that maybe now is the right time to start this assignment.......
I am going to start thinking right now....
...
...
...
Jee this is harder than I thought. Maybe I should play some tetris........that's it because I haven't had any ideas as such I think i'm going to play some tetris to inspire my scientific side :)
Hopefully i'll be back in 5 with some awesumful ideas
